Fractured
Bold Depictions of Life
I believe that real beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What makes an art piece special isn't necessarily what has been included as what has been left to the imagination of the viewer.
"I call my style Fractured.
Broken down into fractal geometric shapes in order to produce a vibration of color and line that mimic movement. I am attempting to capture the every shifting nature of life and interconnected energy that animates everything." - KT

Hypnotic Presence
My paintings are bold depictions of life created with classic oil techniques. Graphic design and tattoo artist backgrounds inspire a contemporary style.
I love the finished pieces and their hypnotic presence, but the real reward for me is the trance like flow state painting gives me. It's mediative and joyful to create with total freedom.
These pieces are my endless attempt at expressing my felt experience of the limitless possibilities of existence itself.
How It All Began...
Pursuing art and creating is my strongest drive.
Attending the University of Iowa, majoring in Art with minors in Business and Psychology turned out to be great choices. It prepared me for an apprenticeship in tattooing and piercing at Stone Cold Tattoo shop in Gunnison Colorado summer 2008.
By 2011, I was prepared to open my own venture. Tight Rope Tattoo in downtown Salida. So much fun! Making art social by applying it to people. After thousands of tattoos, and one awesome co-worker, I decided to go after a bigger dream.
In 2016, I opened the Katie Maher Fine Art Gallery in downtown Salida.
Paintings sold are in the thousands now. Partnering with Portfolio Gallery in Breckenridge (2019-2024) has been wonderful. They know how to throw a live art and music event. I have had the honor of painting there multiple times per year and respect their choice to move onto other ventures by closing their gallery (Fall 2024.)
I can't paint fast enough, so... now we offer high gloss prints made from recycled aluminum.
